Key Points: First Day of SchoolClass book: Create your first class book after reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear (Martin Jr. & Carle). Use each student's name in the sentence frame "I see (name) looking at me." Students may draw a picture of themselves to illustrate each page, or the teacher can insert students' photos. Create a cover, then use yarn, binder rings, or a comb binding machine to put the pages together. Put the book in the classroom library for student use. Display it during Back to School Night or Open House.
Welcome letter: This letter goes home two weeks prior to the first day of school. Topics include Back to School Night, the first day of school, and lists of school and classroom supplies.
